New addiction

After being introduced to her blog after me and a friend followed her recipe for the absolutely incredible slutty brownies (definitely recommend making) I am officially addicted and can't help but check back everyday to see what's new. Rose from 'The Londoner' recently posted about her festival style including a giveaway of some beautiful studded hunter boots! I absolutely had to enter just incase on the off chance I got chosen! To enter you had to tell Rose how you would personally style them so here's what I would do with mine! Wish me luck =D xxxxx

Royal Ascot

This Saturday me and a group of friends went to Royal Ascot. We all got dresses up and made our way there on the train, feeling slightly overdressed to be on public transport. The weather actually stayed pretty good throughout the day except for a short shower and we managed to grab a great picnic spot right next to the track so we got a excellent view of the races and of the Queen as she rode past! Although my good luck didn't kick in and I didn't come away with hundreds of free pounds from betting, I had a really good day and would definitely like to go again next year. One of the best parts of the day was the people watching! I'm gutted I didn't take my SLR and get some sneaky photos of the wide variety of outfits that I saw...some a little bit more 'eye-catching' than others. I really do wonder if some people look into a mirror before they leave the house, but each to their own right? Here's a few photos of the day that we did take though :) xxx

Baby Clothes

Yesterday was a mega lazy day and I pretty much did not leave my sofa, watching film after film. One of these films was Dirty Dancing! I had forgotten how much I loved it and whilst watching it, I couldn't help but notice, that Baby actually dresses pretty well throughout the film and although the film is a tad dated, those outfits are not, they can definitely be re-worked for a modern day dirty dancing romance. So here's a few of the ones I liked and my version of those outfits found on the high street. No one puts Baby in the corner! xxx

Working Girl

Since my internship I've been a major bum as I had some problems getting hold of my old boss at Next to ask to go back for a job. Sooo just out of curiosity more than anything I had a browse to see what other jobs are about and saw a vacancy for River Island. I applied not really thinking much of it but within five minutes of applying I got a reply inviting me for an interview! I went along on Monday and it was pretty quick and easy, just answering the usual questions but they mentioned that they had a lot of interviews to get through so I came away not getting my hopes up. BUT then today I got a phone call from them offering me the job!! So I am now officially a working girl again and I start on Tuesday. I haven't been told what my staff discount is but I'm sure my wages will be in and out of my bank shortly so I will most probably doing some 'what I bought' posts soon! Wish me luck for Tuesday and I will keep you posted on how it goes xxxxxxx

Belated Birthday

So i'm a couple of days late, but as a self confessed lifelong fan, I thought it was only right to do a post dedicated to the one and only Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen for their 26th Birthday! So here's 26 of some of my favourite photos of the girls, Happy Belated Birthday!!! xxx

What I WANT to wear

So I will eventually try to do some 'what I wore' posts but at the moment my social life is so tragic that my outfits aren't very exciting, so for now I thought I'd do a post about what I would like to be wearing...in my wildest dreams! Here's just a couple of little sketches to start of, I'm not that great at drawing people so the character doesn't look much like me at all but you'll have to use your imagination! :) xxx

Fashion Finder

I came across ASOS Fashion Finder when I was doing some research for Goldie London on my internship. I am now a little bit obsessed. It basically allows you to create mood boards of outfits, upload looks, either your own or just those that you have seen and love. Styling is a big passion of mine  so I love creating outfits and you can also look at all the other boards created by other members which is great! If you love fashion, putting together outfits or just being a little bit creative then join up and take a look :) http://fashionfinder.asos.com/  xxx ps. here's a few of the outfits i've created below :)

Every Little Helps

I recently did a 6 week placement with Goldie London working in their merchandising department. I wasn't sure what to expect as I had never done any fashion work experience and to be completely honest whilst being there I had some moments where I thought, why am I here, this is really not me. BUT...after my full six weeks and a week to reflect on my time there, I realised that it taught me a lot, about the industry, about internships and about myself. I got to meet some great people, learn a number of new skills which I think will definitely help me in the future. If you are doing a Fashion Internship, or any internship actually then here is some advice.

  • No matter how small a job may seem, do it anyway...and with a smile on your face, because it will benefit you in some way. It may be the one thing standing in the way of you and much bigger more exciting jobs in the future.
  • Even if something isn't what you expect and you end up spending your time doing things that really aren't your style, just remember that you are still gaining skills that can be put on your CV and could be something that makes you stand out from the HUGE crowd of other students applying for future jobs.
  • Speak up! If you have a good idea or an opinion on something then don't shy away in the corner. I found that the people I worked with really appreciated when I spoke up and even took some of my ideas forward! It makes you feel great and can potentially get your voice and work out there.
  • If you don't understand something, don't be afraid to ask. Employers will appreciate it more if you ask and do something right then you guessing and doing it wrong meaning they have to fix it!
  • Be yourself. Remember to be yourself and not try to act like something your not. Even when it comes down to your daily outfits, I was in quite a casual environment on my placement, but I still made an effort with what I wore everyday! You never know who your going to meet so always be prepared to stand out! Your outfit could be what gets you remembered!
I hope these points can help other people looking to do internships. I learnt a lot from my placement and definitely want to try and get lots more in different areas throughout my studies!  I think they are really important as they give you a real insight into how the industry works in real life and give you a bit of a reality check, as it's not all glamorous in the Fashion World, its all about hard work!

Whilst working at Goldie I got to do a lot of exciting jobs, some of which came with quite a lot of responsibility.  One of my favourite weekly tasks was creating the Concession Staff Newsletter, where I got to be creative, which is a lot more of what I enjoy! I also got to write some of the style notes for the Goldie Boutique on ASOS Marketplace which was so exciting to see words I had written up on a largely used website! Here's a few of the bits and pieces I got to do below. :) xxx
